The invention relates to ion exchange materials comprising a hydrophobic support resin with grafted side chains that have a surfactant-type structure and encompass ion exchange groups. The ion exchange material can be obtained by radically grafting the side chains with the aid of a radical starter containing at least one peroxide group. The surfactant-type structure and the specific radical starter make it possible to obtain a regiospecific and particularly regular arrangement of the side chains on the support resin while allowing for excellent and uniform hydration of the ion exchange groups, resulting especially in improved signal asymmetries for bromide and nitrate.
