A device for supporting a shaft load is provided to prevent damages of components by mitigating an axial directional thrust transmitted from work rolls. As a shaft loading supporting device used along with a bearing to cope with an axial load applied to a shaft, the shaft loading supporting device includes a hollow bearing cover(10), a slider(20) movably embedded in the bearing cover, a spring(30) for providing an elastic force to move the bearing cover and the slider in such a direction that the bearing cover and the slider get away from each other, and a stopper(12) fixed to the bearing cover to limit a movement of the slider. The bearing for coping with the axial load is a thrust bearing(40) installed between the slider and the shaft. The shaft loading supporting device additionally includes an end cover(50) fixed to an end of the shaft, an inspection rod(22) moving along with the slider, and an inspection rod guiding hole(14) formed in the bearing cover such that the inspection rod is movable through the inspection rod guiding hole.
