PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining a battery residual capacity capable of accurately determining the residual capacity corresponding to a battery kind. SOLUTION: A voltage V0 of a battery 1 in the no-load state and a voltage V1 of the battery 1 in the maximum load state are detected respectively, and a voltage drop quantity Ve is calculated from V0 and V1 which are measured values, and a battery classification is determined by comparing the voltage drop quantity Ve with a threshold Vbat for battery kind discrimination, and a threshold Va (or Vn) for residual capacity determination corresponding to the kind is compared with the voltage drop quantity Ve, to thereby determine whether the battery residual capacity remains or not. In the case of remaining, the residual capacity is displayed, and in the case of not remaining, battery exchange is displayed and then finish operation is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
