PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic book system which is more excellent than ever in a convenience to be used without forcing a user to conduct a troublesome operation. SOLUTION: An electronic book 2 acquires a download right of book data and an electronic book server 3 generates a book/purchaser corresponding table 38 which corresponds a user ID of the electronic book 2 to a book data ID code of the book data given the download right. Once a download request is received from the electronic book 2, the electronic book 2 acquires the download right of the book data by transmitting only a data quantity decided in advance to the electronic book 2 if it is confirmed that the data are the book data which have acquired the download right in advance based on the book/purchaser corresponding table 38. As a minimum data quantity of the book data can be acquired anytime and anywhere by only conducting the download request hereafter, the book data are not necessarily held by a large capacity memory and the data are acquired and displayed only when it is necessary.
