<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a gray value image as natural as possible within a short time period as a binarized shape without any loss in image detail and without adding any detail which is nonexistent in an original about a recorded gray value image. <P>SOLUTION: In a method of processing a digital gray value image, a binary edge image is generated so as to be obtained as a line area surrounding an edge from the gray value image in which the edge existing within the gray value image, and then an average value of a gray value of the gray value image is calculated in the line area surrounding the all edges of the binary edge image, wherein the average value is a threshold value when producing a binarized gray value image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
