PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat storage system high in heat storage efficiency, sufficient as heat capacity per volume and obtaining stable heat storage effect. SOLUTION: The heat storage system 1 comprises at least an underground water storage tank 21; a heat storage soil tank 11 formed underground and having soil 15 infiltrated with moisture through the underground water storage tank 21; a closed pipeline 12 which is a pipe filled with a heat medium flowing inside, comprising a main line 12a laid to sink a part of the pipe in the soil 15 of the heat storage soil tank 11, and an auxiliary line 12b which is a portion other than the main line 12a; a heat collecting apparatus 13 connected inserted in an intermediate part of the auxiliary line 12b of the closed pipeline 12 and allowing the heat medium to flow inside; and a heat medium circulating pump 14 circulating the heat medium in the closed pipeline 12 and the heat collecting apparatus 13.
