PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a ruthenium-organic complex excellent in a photoelectric conversion efficiency and useful as a photoelectric conversion material in solar cells. SOLUTION: Cis-dichloro-bis(2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-N, N')ruthenium (II) is reacted with tetra(n-butyl)ammonium hydroxide and then reacted with tetra(n-butyl)ammonium thiocyanate. In the production method, the tetra(n-butyl)ammonium hydroxide is used in an amount of 1.8-2.2 mol per mol of the cis-dichloro-bis(2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-N, N')ruthenium (II). The reaction is performed under irradiation with microwaves. After the reaction, the reaction mixture is concentrated by evaporation. The obtained solid substance is dispersed in distilled water, and the dispersion is acidified with a dilute aqueous nitric acid solution to a pH of 3.0-4.1. After the acidification, the mixture is subjected to solid/liquid separation. The separated solid is purified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
