PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF AMINO ACID

A process for producing an amino acid comprising the steps of adding crystals of an amino acid having an average particle diameter of 1 to 120 mum to a culture medium so that the concentration of the crystals becomes 0.5 g/l or higher, culturing a microorganism capable of producing the amino acid in the culture medium to produce and accumulate crystals of the amino acid in the culture medium, and collecting the crystals from the culture medium; and a process for producing an amino acid comprising the steps of adding crystals of an amino acid to a culture medium so that the total surface area of the crystals in the culture medium becomes 0.02 m^2/l, culturing a microorganism capable of producing the amino acid in the culture medium to produce and accumulate crystals of the amino acid in the culture medium, and collecting the crystals from the culture medium.
