摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# A method for making a padded element (I) (especially for a car seat) by fixing a cover (A) on a base (B) by a hot-press process, where (A) is attached to a first holder with its back facing (B), (B) is attached to another holder with its top facing (A) and at least one holder can be moved so that the parts can be pressed together after applying adhesive, in which adhesive is applied to the top of (B) by using a moving matrix impregnated with adhesive or by taking (B) with its holder to a fixed, adhesive-impregnated matrix. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is included for a device for use in this method, fitted with an adhesive-impregnated movable applicator matrix which is mounted so as to be moved over the second holder (H2) before pressing (A) and (B) together, or with a fixed applicator mounted so that the second holder can be moved onto it. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# For the production of padded elements such as seats and back-rests, especially for car seats. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# This modification makes the adhesion process suitable for mass production without using adhesive film or adhesive applicator guns which tend to contaminate the surroundings. #CMT#MECHANICAL ENGINEERING : #/CMT# Preferred Method: The drying time can be shortened by heating the adhesive zone during the pressing process. The cover (A) is formed by the press process with simultaneous steam injection, preferably by injecting steam onto the back of (A) through ducts projecting from H2, passing through the base (B) and ending at the inside surface of (B); this steam is taken from a pressurised tank separated from the ducts but arranged so as to enable heat transfer from the tank wall to the ducts. (A) is kept in close contact with the first holder (H1) by applying a vacuum, and the steam ducts are arranged so as to hold component (B) on H2 when they are passed through (B). Preferred Device: The steam ducts (arranged as above) are connected to the pressurised steam tank via an interruptor valve and mounted so as to enable heat transfer as above. The first holder (H1) has an upper wall with holes which can be connected to a source of vacuum so as to hold the cover (A) against this wall by suction. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# A padded car seat is produced by placing the cover material on the lower part of a mould corresponding to the surface of the seat base and holding it in close contact by applying a vacuum to the perforated wall of the mould. A seat base is then attached to the upper mould part which is fitted with channels connected to a pressurised steam tank and is kept free from condensation by heat radiated and conducted from the tank. The channels pass through the foam material of the base and end inside the upper surface of the base; they are used not only to inject steam during the pressing operation but also to hold the base on the upper mould. After coating the seat base with adhesive, e.g. from a moving, adhesive-impregnated matrix, the covering material is pressed against the base and steam is injected onto the back of the covering to improve its adaptation to the shape of the base and complete the adhesion process. The product is then demoulded by separating the mould halves, breaking the vacuum holding the seat base and optionally injecting compressed air into the upper part.
