A safety device for a crosswalk is provided to minimize inconvenience to pedestrians by housing pedestrian and vehicle barriers in a main body and to operate pedestrian and vehicle barriers safely by keeping the barriers from being in contact with vehicles or pedestrians when the barriers are spread. A crosswalk safety device for blocking up pedestrians and vehicles by operating together with a pedestrian signal lamp of a crosswalk includes a main body(100) installed at one side of a footpath abutting on a crosswalk, a pedestrian barrier member(20) attached to the main body and spread to block pedestrians entering the crosswalk, a vehicle barrier member attached to the main body and spread to block vehicles passing the crosswalk, a horizontal driving unit(40) and a vertical driving unit(50) of the pedestrian barrier member, a horizontal driving unit and a vertical driving unit of the vehicle barrier member, obstacle sensors(61,62), a control unit(70) operating together with a pedestrian signal lamp of the crosswalk and controlling the horizontal and the vertical driving units of the pedestrian and the vehicle barrier members to make limited movements by the sensors, and a speaker(80) making a sound guide to call drivers and pedestrians attention. When the pedestrian light signal shows a red light, a pedestrian barrier(21) of the pedestrian barrier member is spread to pedestrians not to enter the crosswalk and a vehicle barrier of the vehicle barrier member is placed in the main body to let vehicles pass through the crosswalk, and when the pedestrian light signal shows a green light, the housed vehicle barrier is spread to block vehicles and the spread pedestrian barrier is placed in the main body.
