Pedestrian crossing formed of white strips, as is standard, and strips of another bright colour using units from 5 x 5 cm to 50 x 100 cm of ceramic, silica agglomerate, stone, cement mortar or concrete at the level of the surfacing, or at pavement level. The former will require the construction of gutters, and the latter, which is raised, inclined planes of small gradient in front of and behind the footway which will slow down vehicles' speed. Small parts will undoubtedly be most suitable for forming these strips, given that this simplifies the problem of the levelling required during laying and also increases the number of laid joints filled with deformable pasty elastic mortar based on an epoxy resin, for example, which is emulsionable with water, or any other appropriate resin currently on the market. The crossing assembly will have the same type of surfacing, which will be treated with fluorinated fluids having a low concentration of HF and fluorinated non-ionic or anionic surfactants, which will bring about great uniformity in the distribution of micropores therein following reaction with the minerals of these treated surfaces. These micropores act as vents, and adhesion by vehicles and persons is therefore ensured forever. Special lighting may be incorporated at the edges of its strips through a linear moulding as a recipient for hardened luminescent material, with a tubular light fitting, or with projected light flowing along these channels. Re-laying of the crossing is thereby also made easier. It is suggested and thought that these units forming the strips of pedestrian crossings may also be used in those horizontal markings which are also the cause of many accidents as a result of skidding. |
