The cutting insert (1) has a cylindrical round cutting body (2) with a circular cover surface (3) and with a side surface (5), where the cover surface forms a round cutting edge (6a). The round cutting body is cylindrical in shape and is formed with the cover surface opposite to the another circular cover surface (4) that forms another round cutting edge (6b). The side surface and cover surfaces form a clearance surface (11a) with positive clearance angle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for processing a workpiece for reprocessing and/or for reprofiling of a wheel of a wheel set of a rail vehicle (2) a turning tool for the execution of the method of processing the workpiece.
