The vehicle (1) has a lower rail (3) with an upper part covered by bottom (4) of a lateral door (2) when the door is closed and defining a covering zone with the bottom . The rail has a door retaining profile (22) defining an oblique face (23) terminated by a stop (25) located against the bottom when the door is closed so that a lateral impact on the door deforms the profile by folding the oblique face to increase height of the zone. The profile has longitudinal retaining brackets (26, 27) respectively fixed to frontal and upper panels (16, 17) of the rail by electrical welding spots.
