PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an etalon which allows the variation in dispersion compensation simply and at a low cost and to allow the variation in the dispersion compensation quantity according to the incident angle of light. SOLUTION: A wavelength dispersion compensation device includes an etalon 100 having a slab shape, reflective films 102 and 103 are formed on each side of the etalon 100, and the reflective films respectively have predetermined reflectance. Reflectance of the reflective film 103 differs according to light incident angles A1 and An by using a portion of light within a wavelength range to be used with which a filter characteristic in which transmittance rapidly changes is obtained.
