A toy includes a body and a plurality of tethers 18 moveably coupled to the body. The toy also includes a corresponding plurality of tethered pieces 20 coupled to the plurality of tethers 18 and moveable between a retracted state in which the plurality of tethers hold the tethered pieces proximate the body (see figure 1) and an extended state in which the plurality of tethers hold the tethered pieces away from the body. The tethers 18 are directed in different directions by the use of guide tracks (21 figure 4A). A triggering mechanism (31, 32 figure 4A) operatively is adapted to move the plurality of tethered pieces from the retracted state to the extended state responsive to a triggering event such as a crash or explosion. |
