PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical head which can effectively release the heat of a magnetic coil without hampering the optical characteristics of an objective lens. SOLUTION: The magneto-optical head has a magnetic coil 15 on a surface 3a facing the magneto-optical disk of a transparent substrate 3. The top of the surface 3a is provided with a heat sink layer 80 on the outer side of the magnetic coil 15. The objective lens is supported on a surface 3b on the reverse side of the surface 3a. The heat generated in the magnetic coil 15 is released through the heat sink layer 80 to the space between the magneto-optical disk and the substrate 3. The heat radiation is accelerated by the air flow generated by rotation of the magneto-optical disk. |
