PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly purify an exhaust gas introducing passage, when it is necessary to purify the exhaust gas inlet passage. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas measuring instrument 10 is constituted so as to guide a part of exhaust gas into an HC analyzer 14 via the exhaust gas inlet passage 16 for measuring the concentration of the hydrocarbon component of the exhaust gas and equipped with a clean gas supply system 32, equipped with a flow amount regulation means 40, 56, 58 and 60 for regulating the amount of flow of the clean gas supplied to the gas inlet passage 16 and a heating means 38 for heating the clean gas, as necessary, to supply the clean gas regulated in its flow amount and temperature to the gas inlet passage 16 and a control means 48 for controlling the amount of flow regulation means 40, 56, 58 and 60 of the clean gas supply system 32 and the heating means 38 so as to supply a predetermined amount of flow of the clean gas to the gas inlet passage 16 at a predetermined temperature, when the exhaust gas inlet passage 17 containing the gas inlet passage 16 is purified.
