<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a downright backlight device capable of realizing low power consumption, having a high luminance in front direction with a simple structure, and capable of suppressing greatly unevenness of luminance on the light-emitting face. <P>SOLUTION: The downright backlight device has a plurality of linear light sources and a light diffusion plate to diffuse and emit the light from the linear light sources. The plurality of linear light sources are arranged so that the spacing between the adjoining linear light sources may become narrower continuously or step by step toward a specific part. A plurality of linear prisms of cross-sectionally polygonal shape are arranged in a row in nearly parallel along the linear light sources on at least one face of the light diffusion plate, and a row of prism line with an arithmetical mean deviation of profile Ra of 3 to 1,000 μm is formed along the short-length direction of the linear prisms. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
