PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which has an absorber, made to be thin and has low basis weight, and shows excellent leakage preventing properties and machining properties, and a manufacturing method of the absorbent article which prevents a superabsorbent polymer from substantially dropping in cutting an absorber continuum. SOLUTION: A disposable diaper 1 is equipped with a liquid-permeable surface sheet 2, a liquid-impermeable back side sheet 3, and the absorber 4 which retains liquids and is interposed between both sheets. The absorber 4 includes a web 42 of a hydrophilic continuous fiber 41 and the superabsorbent polymer 43 and is vertically long substantially. The absorber 4 extends across both end parts 11, 12 in the longitudinal direction when the disposable diaper is worn. The continuous fiber 41 is crimped and is oriented approximately in the longitudinal direction. The superabsorbent polymer 43 is not present in both end parts 11, 12 in the longitudinal direction substantially.
