PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and inexpensively acquire the shift portion of a shift lever. SOLUTION: A signal line is connected between an AT-ECU 2A and a SBW-ECU 2B. Values detected by sensors S<SB>1</SB>-S<SB>4</SB>are sent from the SBW-ECU 2B to the AT-ECU 2A in one direction. In this case, during such a failure that the values detected by the sensors S<SB>1</SB>-S<SB>4</SB>are not input to the SBW-ECU 2B, the AT-ECU 2A determines the input or not of the values detected by the sensors S<SB>1</SB>-S<SB>4</SB>from the SBW-ECU 2B. When the AT-ECU 2A determines no input of values detected, it determines the position of the shift lever from values detected by linear sensors R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, instead of the SBW-ECU 2B.
