The device has a shadowing element formed as a solar energy converter (6). The solar energy converter is designed in a plate-shape and is movable over a window (3) or a skylight (5) with the help of a drive unit (8). Degree of coverage of the window or skylight is variable based on a function of a measuring signal of a sensor sensitive to solar radiation. The solar energy converter exhibits a set of lamellas tiltable around a longitudinal axis. The solar energy converter is attached on the exterior of the window.
