<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pickup module which is suitable to be made small and thin and can secure the main shaft or screw shaft in parallel and maintain its rigidity, ruggedness, and transfer precision. <P>SOLUTION: The frame of the pickup module of this invention has a section outside the optical disk mounting area and covering above at least some part of the pickup 5 when it comes to the outermost position.
