A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode containing a positive mix and, carrying the same, a positive current collector; a negative electrode; a separator containing a polyolefin resin; a nonaqueous electrolyte; and a heat resistant insulating layer, wherein the estimated heat generation rate of the positive mix at 200°C is 50 W/kg or below. The positive electrode and negative electrode together with the heat resistant insulating layer and separator interposed therebetween are wound round.
