A mold 50 for forming optical lenses has a molding portion 10 having a molding surface 12 , a thin film 30 is formed on the molding surface, which is made from SiCH<SUB>x</SUB>N<SUB>y</SUB>, wherein x is in the range of 0.02~0.10, y is in the range of 0.05~0.30. A method for manufacturing the mold is also provided.
