<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability when achieving a universal mode for users, such as physically disabled people, young people, and aged people, who cannot adapt to any complex operation. <P>SOLUTION: In a composite machine having a copier function, corresponding numeric values or symbols are displayed together so that one can operate 1-6, 8, 9, #, and * keys for selecting software keys B80-B86, B88, B89, B8A, B8B in a touch panel device P. Further, the number of software keys is set to the range of numeric keys. As a result, in the universal mode, partial or entire function setting can be performed by the numeric keys, a user who cannot adapt to the complex operation can perform diversified function selection with an easy-to-understand operation by the numeric keys. Only the selection functions of the numeric keys are displayed at a display region A1 to the maximum.
