PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of prolonging the service life of an image carrier such as a photoreceptor drum, a developing means, etc., without being increased in size nor cost. SOLUTION: In the image forming device in which a plurality of image forming units forming color toner images of different colors and a black toner image are arranged in parallel and which is equipped with a common driving means of driving the plurality of image forming units, each image forming unit is equipped with a charging means for charging the surface of an image carrier to a predetermined potential; an image exposure means for exposing the surface of the image carrier to an image, to form an electrostatic latent image; and a developing means for developing electrostatic latent images formed on the image carrier. The quantity of charging of the image carrier by the charging means is set smaller, in a non-image region than in an image region, and a developing bias applied to the developing means is varied.
