APPARATUS FOR DECODING SIGNAL AND METHOD THEREOF

A method and an apparatus for decoding a signal are provided to employ a decorrelator in a signal transforming part when an up-mixing operation is performed with respect to a down-mixed signal to restore the down-mixed signal to an original signal. A down-mixed signal is read out from a bit-stream(1801). Spatial information, or virtual three-dimensional information is transformed into the domain of the down-mixed signal if the domain of the spatial information, or the virtual three-dimensional information is different from the domain of the down-mixed signal(1805). The spatial information and the virtual three-dimensional information are employed for the down-mixed signal in the domain of the down-mixed signal, thereby generating a virtual three-dimensional signal(1809).
