Provided are a novel chalcone derivative, its pharmaceutically acceptable salt, a method for preparing the chalcone derivative, and a composition for treating or preventing diabetes, fatness, cancer or virus-induced disease containing the chalcone derivative. A chalcone derivative is represented by a formula 1, wherein R1 is H or R4SO2-; R2 and R3 are independently H or a hydroxyl group; and R4 is a C1-C5 alkyl group, or a C6-C10 aryl group having at least one substituent selected from H, a halogen atom, a nitro group and a C1-C5 alkyl group. The method comprises the steps of reacting an aminoacetophenone compound with a sulfonyl chloride compound (R4SO2Cl); and reacting the obtained one with a hydroxybenzaldehyde compound to prepare the chalcone derivative of the formula 1.
