PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a method for improving the arrangement of wiring to reduce crosstalk due to parasitic capacity generated between the wires of a solid-state image pickup device is difficult due to an increase in a circuit scale, and a method for rounding waveform by providing an integrating circuit causes the circuit scale to increase and load capacity to increase. SOLUTION: The level difference in each stage of stepped waveform is large when performing prescribed operation by the stepped waveform, where a control signal applied to the gate of a transistor for outputting signals in each pixel in the solid-state image pickup device changes in three steps of Low, Vg1, and High1. Therefore, crosstalk due to the parasitic capacity between wires becomes a problem, so that a control signal in stepped waveform in five steps as shown in (D) having a middle level in each stage of Low, Vg1, and High1 is generated for control. Since the level change of the generated control signal is small, crosstalk due to the parasitic capacity generated can be reduced between the wires, and an increase in load capacity can also be prevented since no integral circuits are used.
