PURPOSE:To reduce attenuation of an ultrasonic wave by shortening a propagation distance of the ultrasonic wave, by a method wherein a vortex detector is mounted so that the ultrasonic wave can propagate in parallel to a vortex producing object. CONSTITUTION:A rectifier 2 is installed at an upstream side of a measuring conduit 1 having a rectangular section, and a vortex-producing object 3, made of a trigonal prism, is set at a downstream side. An ultrasonic transmitter 5' and an ultrasonic receiver 7' are mounted so that an ultrasonic wave propagates in parallel to the vortex-producing object 3. This shortens the propagation distance of the ultrasonic wave, and as a result, attenuation of the ultrasonic wave is reduced. |
