<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device 40 for a pillar comprising an air bag 43 to be inflated and developed outward of a front pillar 21 to be vertically long along the front pillar 21, containing a release valve 44 on an upper end part 48 of the air bag 43 to open when pressure of the air bag 43 inflated and developed exceeds a set value to set a prescribed pressure. <P>SOLUTION: A part of a collided thing is received by the air bag, and another part of the collided thing is received by the air bag afterwards. The air bag can be kept at a constant pressure. When secondary collision occurs to this outward type air bag device for a vehicle, the collided thing can be sufficiently protected. Since an upper end part of the air bag is a part having little possibility of collision of a thing, the release valve is provided at the upper end part of the air bag without prohibiting absorption of shock. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
