<p>A process for the production of bisphenol A (BPA) which comprises the step of subjecting part of the mother liquor obtained in the production to impurities removal treatment and then recycling the resulting liquor to the reaction system, wherein a BPA production catalyst is inhibited from deactivation. A process for the production of BPA which comprises the reaction step of reacting acetone with phenol (PL) to form a reaction mixture containing BPA and PL, the low-boiling component separation step of separating a BPA-containing component from the reaction mixture, the BPA separation step of separating the BPA-containing component into a fluid containing BPA as the main component and a mother liquor containing PL as the main component, the light component separation step of separating at least part of the mother liquor into a light component and a heavy component through heating in the presence of an alkali and distillation, and the rebinding step of treating the light component in the presence of a catalyst to rebind PL contained in the resulting light component to isopropenylphenol contained therein and thus form BPA, wherein the isopropenylphenol content of the reaction fluid in the rebinding step is controlled to be 4% by weight or below.</p> |
