<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system that can obtain a constant signal gain in a transmission period without using a pilot signal. <P>SOLUTION: The level of an input signal to a master station device 20 is monitored and its result is described in a data packet, which is transmitted to a slave station device 30 together with a transmission signal. The salve station device 30 reads the input level out of the data packet, and an output signal level is detected and compared with the input level by a comparator 34. The comparator 34 calculates a gain in the transmission stage from the input level read out of the data packet and the output level of an output signal and controls an attenuation quantity of a variable attenuator 32 so that the calculated value reaches a prescribed value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
