An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by preventing overcharge of liquid crystal cells. An LCD device includes first, second, and third controllers. The first controller outputs a charge share voltage to data lines(DL) of an LCD panel in response to a first output control signal. The second controller(75) selects one of the charge share voltage and a free charge voltage higher than an absolute value of the charge share voltage in response to a second output control signal whose phase is later than that of the first output control signal, and outputs the selected voltage to the data lines. The third controller(77) outputs a data voltage to the data lines in response to a third control signal(POL) whose phase is later than that of the second output control signal.
