PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the workability of a work for protecting and covering the peripheral part of a tempered glass plate with a belt-shaped body when fire-retardant glass is manufactured; and to provide the fire-retardant glass in which defects such as exfoliation, loosening or falling of the belt-shaped body or the generation of crease in the belt-shaped body when it is used as a fire-retardant glass are eliminated and which is excellent in fire-retardant performance. SOLUTION: The fire-retardant glass is manufactured by using a tempered glass plate, obtained by chamfering and polishing the end parts of a glass base plate and thermally tempering the whole surface of the base plate and having surface compressive stress of 166-235 MPa, and then adhering a glass cloth adhesive tape having a thickness of 0.15-0.5 mm on the end edge parts of the tempered glass plate by using a silicone-based adhesive as an adhesive.
