PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-treated calcium carbonate as a filler that is useful for a resin composition such as a plastisol as a typical representative and especially gives a resin composition for a plastisol having excellent thixotropy (thixotropic properties, viscosity properties)-imparting effect, slip resistance and adhesion. SOLUTION: The surface-treated calcium carbonate as a filler has a ratio A/TG of a weight A (mg) of an alkali metal salt of a fatty acid per 1.0 g of calcium carbonate treated with a fatty acid surface treating agent to a heat loss TG (mg) at 200-500°C per 0.1 g of the surface-treated calcium carbonate of 30-90 wt.% and satisfies formula (I): 50≤N≤250 (μg/m<SP>2</SP>) and formula (II): 1.0≤AS≤3.5 (mg/m<SP>2</SP>) wherein N is an alkali metal content (μg/m<SP>2</SP>) calculated from P/SW, provided that P is an alkali metal content (μg/g) per g of the surface-treated calcium carbonate and SW is a BET specific surface area (m<SP>2</SP>/g); and AS is an amount (mg/m<SP>2</SP>) of the surface treating agent calculated from TG/SW.
