摘要 A wavelength variable optical element using a TM(Transverse Magnetic)-mode laser and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to perform mass production by manufacturing a subminiature high efficiency visible light source without matching positions of a waveguide and a polarization. A wavelength variable optical element using a TM-mode laser couples a laser diode to a QPM(Quasi Phase Matching)-SHG(Second Harmonic Generation) waveguide element(101). The laser diode is a TM-mode laser diode(160) having TM polarized light as oscillation polarized light. The QPM-SHG waveguide element(101) is a QPM-SHG waveguide element which forms a periodic polarized region on a Z-cut non-linear medium substrate(110) which is cut by a Z-axis. The laser diode(160) and the QPM-SHG waveguide element(101) are attached and coupled to a flat platform.
