<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acidic beverage and a beverage product each easily produced and having bacteriostatic action against heat-resistant acidophilic bacteria: and to provide a method for inhibiting an increase in heat-resistant acidophilic bacteria carried out simply. <P>SOLUTION: The acidic beverage contains a compound comprising lactic acid or its salt, and has 0.8-1.2 g/L of the content of the compound in terms of the lactic acid. The compound comprising the lactic acid and its salt is added to the acidic beverage as a bacteriostatic agent.
