An external preparation having excellent percutaneous absorption ability for ionic drugs is provided. An external preparation which comprises the following components (a) and (b); component (a): an ionic drug, component (b) : an ionic liquid containing a cation and an anion. By this construction, the ionic liquid functions as asolubilizing agent for the ionic drug and thereby the solubility of the drug in the external preparation increases, so that percutaneous absorption ability of the ionic drug is accelerated.
