PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle for converting a manual wheelchair into a self-traveling type wheelchair which can accelerate, does not damage corners of steps, can travel even on a one-sided slope or a level ground with a gutter, and can be separated from the wheelchair to use only the wheelchair. SOLUTION: A car body 21 is connected to a back frame 13 of the wheelchair 11 via a pin joint means 71. The car body 21 has, on its rear bottom, a right and left pair of Y-shaped drive rotors 30 each having an arm 31 with a drive wheel 32. The car body also has, on its front bottom, posture-holding legs 33 each comprising a base leg 34 swingable with respect to the car body and an edge leg 35 flexible and swingable with respect to the base leg. The car body is further provided with a back and forth inclination sensor 50, a lateral inclination sensor 51, step sensors 52, 53 and 54, a gutter sensor 55 or the like. A Y-shaped front roller 36 which is stable in an inverted-Y-shape and has an arm 37 with an adjustable wheel 38 is installed on the distal section of the edge leg. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
