PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device where a target track is accessed in a shorter period than a conventional device even after occurrence of a situation where address information cannot be read from a disk 1 in access processing to the target track. SOLUTION: The disk device is provided with a motor 10 for driving an optical pickup 2 in the radial direction of the disk 1, a step counter 45 which counts the number of rotation steps of the motor 10 and outputs a value according to the position in the radial direction of the disk 1; and an MPU 7 which controls the motor 10. The MPU 7 stores a counted value obtained from the step counter 45 to a built-in memory when the address information can be read from the disk 1. Thereafter, when the address information cannot be read from the disk 1, the MPU 7 moves the optical pickup 2 to a position expressed by the counted value stored in the built-in memory, and moves it from the position to a target track position.
