The system has a gas suspension spring (14) comprising spring chambers (19, 20) divided by a partition (9), where the chamber (19) is arranged internal to a housing element (7). The housing element forms an outer cylinder to receive a suspension piston (6). A damper housing (17) is connected with the piston. A damping unit (18) comprises a damping piston (36) to separate two damping chambers. A slider (23) is arranged concentric around a central axial rod (35). A camshaft controls position of the slider by which connection between subvolumes of the spring chambers is closed.
