A mobile terminal includes: a data communication unit for transmitting a candidate base station notification making a base station having a different communication ability from the base station with which communication is being performed to be a handoff destination candidate base station to the handoff origin base station executing data communication and receiving a communication setting modification request requesting for modification of the handoff destination communication setting in accordance with the communication ability supported by the hand off original base station and all the handoff destination candidate base stations; and a communication setting execution unit for modifying the handoff original communication setting set between the mobile terminal and the handoff original base station to a communication setting corresponding to the communication setting modification request.
