PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: reproduction is impossible in reproduction equipment reproducing a file under a directory based on a prescribed standard inside a recording medium when the file is placed under the directory not based on the standard in a PC or the like. SOLUTION: This reproduction equipment 106 has: a directory/file retrieval means 103 retrieving the designated directory or file from the directories and the files present inside the recording medium 101 capable of producing/recording the directory and the file based on the DCF standard; a reproducibility decision means 104 deciding whether the file retrieved by the directory/file retrieval means 103 is reproducible or not; and a file movement means 105 moving the file to under the directory prescribed by the DCF standard when the reproducibility decision means 104 decides that the retrieved file is reproducible.
