<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effervescent drink which has beer taste but no unpleasant smell such as an effervescent alcoholic drink smell, etc., in spite of using no malt, and also has improved foam-keeping characteristics; and also to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the effervescent drink without using malts is characterized by comprising: (1) a process of obtaining a liquid by saccharifying a mixture of a sugar, a decomposed soybean protein, a pigment source and water; (2) a process of boiling the obtained liquid and adding hop; (3) a process of cooling down the boiled liquid; (4) a process of fermenting the cooled liquid by an yeast; and (5) a process of filtering the fermented liquid to obtain the effervescent drink by removing the yeast and proteins.
