PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transmitting the signal between a television camera and a video apparatus and an apparatus using the method, where the number of cable signals is reduced, as much as possible, the diameter of a cable is made thin to enable the cable to be flexible and communication that uses IP signals can be performed. SOLUTION: A video signal from a television camera and a first control signal are multiplexed with each other by a first time-division multiplexing circuit, to generate a first serial signal; the first serial signal is transmitted, by using a first prescribed signal line in a cable; a second control signal from the television camera is transmitted to the video apparatus by using a second prescribed signal line; the first serial signal from the first signal line is demultiplexed into a video signal and the first control signal by a first demultiplexing circuit in the video apparatus; and a third control signal from the video apparatus is transmitted to the television camera, by using third and fourth signal lines in the cable.
