PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering wheel capable of more flexibly attaining relaxing of hitting load of a driver relative to a rim part according to the condition of a vehicle with high reliability while maintaining operability regarding steering of the vehicle. SOLUTION: The steering wheel 100 is provided with the circular rim part 110 connected to a steering shaft of the vehicle through spoke parts 120a-120d. A core metal 111 of the rim part 110 is cut at portions SD1, SD2 closely provided on the spoke parts 120a, 120b. On these cut portions SD1, SD2, cross section area variation mechanisms 10, 20 functioning as a deformation auxiliary means are provided and dynamically assist deformation to a vehicle front side of a rear portion 110a positioned below in a vertical direction of the rim part 110 under the condition that application of impact load to the vehicle is detected.
