PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connecting structure and an optical connecting method for easy connection with little optical loss and having repetition connecting property without requiring removal or exchange of an insertion medium upon reconnection, in an optical connecting structure and an optical connecting method for optically connecting both optical transmission media or between an optical transmission medium and an optical component through a self-standing medium having a matched refractive index. SOLUTION: In the optical connection structure for optically connecting both optical transmission media or between an optical transmission medium and an optical component through a self-standing cohesive connecting member having a matched refractive index, at least one surface of the self-standing cohesive connecting member is coated with an oily material or a jelly material.
