<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with high contrast and wide viewing angle. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 100 characterized that it is constituted by being equipped with a pair of substrates 10, 25, a liquid crystal layer 50 sandwiched between the pair of substrates 10 and 25, a plurality of subpixel areas constituting a display area, a color filter layer 22 arranged on the side of the liquid crystal layer 50 of one substrate 25 and constituted by arranging a plurality of colored layers 22R-22B having colors different from one another so as to correspond to the respective subpixel ares and an optical retardation film 41 arranged between the color filter layer 22 and the liquid crystal layer 50, level differences 40b, 40c corresponding to the subpixel areas are provided on the base surface 40a used as a base of the optical retardation film 41 and layer thickness of the optical retardation film 41 is set to different thickness corresponding to the level differences 40b, 40c is adopted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
