PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an electrooptical device and a connecting method for a connection member that can prevent a wire, a substrate for the electrooptical device, etc., from being broken during metal joining. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the electrooptical device includes: a terminal forming stage (S6) of forming an output wire 14 and a substrate-side output terminal 14a whose height h1 is larger than the height h2 of the output wire 14 from one surface 41 of a substrate 4 on the one surface 41; an arranging stage (S7) of arranging a driver IC 17 on the substrate 4 so that the driver-side output terminal 24 of a driver IC 17 is superposed on the substrate-side output terminal 14a to come into contact with each other; and a joining stage (S8) of joining the substrate-side output terminal 14a and driver-side output terminal 24 with an ultrasonic wave by supplying the ultrasonic wave. Therefore, the substrate-side output terminal 14a can absorbs energy caused during the metal joining with the energy of the ultrasonic wave to prevent the output wire 14 and substrate 4 from being broken.
